Now for the real world!

Recently I have been trying to keep up to date with the colour collectives, on Twitter.
Most have been quickly done because of New Designers and trying to get my life together. But this week hopefully I will do something a bit more impressive.
We will see...

Negotiated Project

Oranges are not the only fruit

We were assigned the Penguin Adult Fiction competition which was 'Oranges are not the only Fruit' by Jeanette Winterson.

Watercolour, colouring pencil, digital

Company of Wolves

Using the Angela Carter's 'Company of wolves' playing on the original red riding hood story, we were asked to create illustrations suitable for the folio society.

Dip Pen & ink, collage

Birds and Cage

Using the quote 'How can the bird, that is born for joy, sit in a cage and sing?' from a William Blake poem, we were asked to create a poster and working  thaumatrope set to make us think of contemporary illustration.

For my mum's Birthday :)

For my mum's birthday I am painting a picture of herself and my dad. So far I am pleased with the result, but still a long way to go till it's finished :)

Careers Advice Project

I picked out Miner, Plumber and Shepherd to illustrate the first part of this project.
I especially enjoy my mole and his strange face.
The sheepdog worked as a shepherd but I changed him to match the mole when asked to bring them together using the sentence 'He was by far the best at this'.
Naturally this meant that I was going to make my shepherd have a helicopter tail and have millions of balloons hoisting the miner into the air...

The final piece was the length of A2 but quite thin. I used Cross stitch for the balloons, fabric and stitch for the clouds, Graph paper collaged for the sky and then Gouache for characters and hills.
